Tamara Deane is an artist who lives in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia. She has enjoyed a career in the fine arts, commercial illustration, and graphic design.

Her surreal oil paintings with whimsical and realistically painted subjects, have hung in galleries, juried and group shows, and live in private collections. Her Abstract Butterfly series explores her childhood memories growing up in rural Georgia, incorporating images of wildflowers, deer antlers, sweetgum balls, and snowball fights.

Tamara’s paintings caught the attention of the Atlanta theatre community. She took on several projects as a set designer and was nominated for a Suzi Bass Award for scenic design in professional theatre for Horizon Theatre’s 9 Parts of Desire.

Inspired by the collaborative process and a desire to explore the purity of shapes and color through abstraction, Tamara created a collection of orbs with an interactive flair. These pieces invited the viewer to become part of the creative process, expanding ideas about creative boundaries and our understanding of what art can be.

Tamara Deane McElhannon

“I want to share the discovery and playfulness of the creative process. Each piece is crafted with the viewer in mind—inviting them to define their own story within the painting, or to engage more directly through the interactive experience of my orbs.”
